Exhibition Banner Design for De Klerk Safaris – Hunting Safaris
The Challenge When De Klerk Safaris approached me to create stage banners for their latest exhibition, the scale was the first major hurdle. We weren’t just making a backdrop; we were creating a 3000mm x 2200mm immersive environment. The client provided great imagery, but there was a significant technical gap: the photos were high-quality for standard use, but when placed on a canvas this large, they appeared no bigger than an ID photo. On a three-meter banner, “good enough” resolution quickly turns into a pixelated mess that can make a professional brand look amateur.
The Solution This is where 20 years of technical experience—and the right modern tools—come into play. To ensure the “best face” for De Klerk Safaris, I utilized advanced upscaling techniques to bring those “small” files up to a massive, print-ready scale without losing the crisp detail of the Kalahari lions. Using CorelDraw to manage the complex layout, I focused on a high-impact “hero” image to grab the attention of passersby from across the room, flanked by a gallery of the lodge and local wildlife. It’s about more than just “blowing up” a photo; it’s about protecting the integrity of the image so it looks as sharp in person as it does on a screen.
The Result The final result was a towering, professional display that anchored the client’s exhibition booth. By solving the resolution “headache” before the files ever hit the printer, I ensured the brand looked authoritative and high-end. As the client noted from the show floor: “Die banners lyk pragtig op die skou” (The banners look beautiful at the show).
