S&F Farming Logo Design

S&F Farming operates across three distinct locations in South Africa: Lake Warden, Tweefontein, and Rietgat.

In their discussions with BRU Graphic Design, they explained that they needed a unified logo that could represent the overarching company while still identifying specific farm sites.

Overview of the Project

  • Project: S&F Farming Logo Design

  • Client Industry: Agriculture & Commercial Farming

  • Services: Logo Design, Brand Identity System, Vector Illustration

  • Tools: Manual Sketching, CorelDRAW

  • Deliverables: Primary Logo, Location-Specific Variations, Print-Ready Vectors

The Challenge

S&F Farming realized they had outgrown their original logo. It was a rushed placeholder—a generic image sourced from the internet that failed to represent the scale, professionalism, or specific nature of their operations.

They needed a new, custom-made logo. They wanted a look that felt established and authentically reflected their work, which specializes in cultivating the soil.

The Vision

I started with a consultation to understand the client’s vision. They specifically requested a departure from “loud” colors, preferring a palette that was colorful but grounded—not loud, but definitely not boring.

There were specific elements that were “must-haves” for the design:

  1. Camel Thorn Trees: If trees were featured, they had to be Camel Thorns (Vachellia erioloba), which are dotted around the landscape of the farm.

  2. Center Pivot Irrigation: A central part of their farming infrastructure.

  3. Typography: The font and design needed personality—it could not be boring.

The Process

The process began with pencil sketches to balance these complex elements. The logo went through various iterations until the winning design was selected—based on a concept they had shown interest in, but refined for professional use.

Once the composition was solidified, the design was digitized in CorelDRAW.

I developed a flexible Typography System where the bottom text line can be swapped (e.g., “Since 2015,” “Rietgat,” “Tweefontein”) without breaking the visual harmony of the logo.

The Result

Upon completion, I supplied them with high-resolution vector files, images, and PDFs suitable for print, web, and social media.

S&F Farming successfully rolled out the new branding across their properties. The designs were immediately put into production and printed on large entrance boards for all three farm locations, effectively establishing a professional and recognizable territory for the business.
